Sixth CMT China closes with very good key figures

China, event, tourism

The CMT China was without any doubt a complete success for the chinese offshoot of Stuttgart’s CMT, the world’s largest trade fair for tourism and leisure. At the exhibition area in Nanjing, a total of 433 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions were presented. Over 40,000 visitors during the three exhibition days showed impressive the great interest to the subject.

Analogous to the Stuttgart-based mother trade fair, CMT China is divided into a tourism, a camping and a caravaning sector. The topic of cycling and outdoor activities was also represented.

A premiere took place this year for the specialized visitors in the sector MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Events). Nearly 40 exhibitors showed their solutions for the buyers.

“A very promising start, which we will surely expand further in the coming years,” said Alexander Ege, team leader CMT. He is very satisfied with the successful premiere.

Premiere for the Black Forrest (i.e. “Schwarzwald”)

Happy faces also existed at the region Black Forrest, the partner of CMT China this year. René Skiba, Managing Director of Tourismus GmbH Nördliche Schwarzwald: “CMT China has proved to be an ideal platform for launching into the chinese core market. With our presentation at the press conference and the opening event, which was a special experience cutting the big black walnut cherry cake, we were able to generate a very high level of attention and a very good image of the Black Forest as a tourist destination for Chinese guests. Thanks to the good support by the CMT China Team and the Nanjing fair we were able to concentrate on making contacts and learning how we can position ourselves if we want to be successful here.”

The visitors were also very satisfied with the fair: they gave the event the grade 1.7. Not only the numerous tourist offers but also the presentations of the caravaning section were from great interest. More than 40 manufacturers and brands presented themselves in the halls and in the open air area exhibition to the visitors. As many as never before.A clear indicator of the increasing interest of Chinese visitors in mobile holidays as well as the growing importance of this area for the coming years. Overall, the visitors stayed on average more than three hours to get an overview of the offers of the fair.

Next stopp: Stuttgart

The Stuttgart-based CMT will be opening its doors from 13 to 21 January 2018: The trade fair will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. On the occasion of the event, the fair itself will be the first to present the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10), currently under construction, at the Stuttgart Trade Fair. The CMT will thus grow by around 15,000 square meters of exhibition space, thus covering the entire Stuttgart exhibition grounds with 120,000 square meters of hall space.

The tenth Stuttgart trade fair will be used during the CMT for special cycling events, cycling and adventure trips with hikes (13/14 January 2018), golf and wellness trips as well as the presentation of cruise and ship trips (18 – 21 January 2018). Partner countries are Panama and Hungary next year, the partner region for the caravaning industry is Trentino.
