With the app in the footsteps of Commissioner Wallander

Is this not Commissioner Wallander? In his hometown of Ystad, the popular character from Henning Mankell’s crime-mime seems ubiquitous. It’ s no wonder, because all the fountains of the novels are in reality, and the numerous movies shows the streets, buildings and surroundings of the charming little town in Skåne in the south of Sweden.

Wallander in Ystad is more up-to-date than ever, as new films with Sir Kenneth Branagh as Commissioner Kurt Wallander throwing. So come on! Fans of the cult commissioner travel quick and comfortable with the Swedish expert TT-Line over the Baltic Sea to Trelleborg. From the TT-Line port you can reach Ystad in a short car trip.

On exciting Wallander tours with the help of the Wallander app or the brochure “On Wallander’s footsteps” by the municipal tourist office, you can see the most important opera houses from the Mankell Crimea and learn more about the charming town with its 300 well preserved half-timbered houses.

Speaking of events: In Ystad the obligatory Fika is held in Wallander’s favorite Fridolfs! Anyone wishing to spend more time on the ground or want to go deeper can explore the home of Wallander with the Wallander app of the municipal tourist office.

In the free app for iPhone and Android, the most important locations are compiled with descriptions, cross-references to books, films and photos and displayed on maps.

So you can find easily the apartment of Wallander in the Mariagatan or his favorite confectionery Fridolfs Konditori, but also to the Hagestad Nature Reserve, the scene of the cruel “Mittsommermord”. And by the way, exploring the picturesque Ystad, which is also visited because of its great half-timbered house scenery.

Hard-boiled fans also watch the film museum Cineteket in Ystad, right next to Ystad Studios. Here they are particularly close to the Commissioner, as visitors can admire a unique collection of Wallander collection of scenes, dresses and props of the Swedish and British film productions.

Cheap travel to Sweden by ferry

TT-Line ferries make it easy to travel quick to Trelleborg in the South of Sweden. The comfortable ships run up to 17 times daily between Travemünde, Rostock and the southern Swedish port. Already from 53, – Euro (£ 45)  is the journey from Rostock including vehicle bookable, from Travemünde one travels from 79, – Euro (£ 67) to southern Sweden.
